They share the same platform, the same naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10, the same dual-clutch gearbox. But the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Huracán offer two very different experiences. Here's how to choose between them for your rental.
The engine: identical, almost
The 5.2L naturally-aspirated V10 is the same block in both cars. Assembled in Sant'Agata, mounted in Neckarsulm (R8) or Sant'Agata (Huracán). Power: 610 hp in the R8 V10 Performance; 610 to 640 hp in the Huracán depending on version. The sound is identical: raw, direct, that signature V10 wail that climbs to 8,500 rpm without ever running out of breath.
The drive: the R8 forgives, the Huracán challenges
The Audi R8 is deliberately more civilized. Lighter steering, a Comfort mode that softens the suspension, a familiar dashboard layout if you drive an Audi daily. It's a supercar you can use every day.
The Huracán is more radical. Heavier steering, louder exhaust in Sport and Corsa, a lower and more enveloping driving position. It demands more attention and rewards more in return.
Presence: two different categories
On the road, the Audi R8 is recognized by enthusiasts. It draws the eye without ever shouting. The Huracán stops traffic. Slicing doors, massive intakes, low roofline. It's the car people photograph at red lights. Whether that's an advantage or drawback depends on your context.
The roof: coupe vs Spyder
Our R8 is a fixed-roof coupe. Our Huracán is a Spyder. Retractable roof in 17 seconds up to 50 km/h. For a summer weekend, the Spyder is hard to beat. For an evening return in cool weather or an 18 °C morning, the R8 coupe is more comfortable.
The cost
On our rate sheet, the Huracán Spyder is roughly 20 to 25% more per day than the R8 V10. The difference reflects the market: the Huracán is rarer, more visible, more requested. Both qualify for the same multi-day discounts (3, 5, 7 days).
Our recommendation
Choose the Audi R8 for a first supercar experience, a pure driving weekend on Route 112, or semi-daily use over a week. Choose the Lamborghini Huracán Spyder for a wedding, a milestone birthday, a photoshoot, or any moment where the car should be part of the event.
