Renting an exotic car in Quebec with a foreign or American license

Every week we get the same question: 'I'm visiting from the US / France / UAE, can I rent an R8 with you?' Short answer: yes, almost always. Here are the details.

US licenses

A valid driver's license from any US state is accepted with no additional document for a Quebec rental. It must be in force, in your name, and you must be at least 25 years old.

European and international licenses

A valid European license is accepted for tourist visits up to 6 months. For licenses written in a language other than French or English (Arabic, Mandarin, Cyrillic, etc.), an International Driving Permit (IDP) is strongly recommended and sometimes required by insurance. The IDP is a simple official translation obtained in your home country before travel.

Biometric verification

After online booking payment, you receive a secure link to complete biometric verification within 24 hours. License photo (front and back) and selfie. Two minutes on your phone. On pickup day, all that's left is the in-person deposit pre-authorization.

Credit card in your name

A credit card (not debit) in your name with sufficient available limit for the deposit ($2,500 to $10,000 depending on the vehicle) is required. Amex, Visa, Mastercard accepted. A foreign card works, but check with your bank that the pre-authorization in Canadian dollars won't trigger surprise fees.

Insurance

Our liability and damage insurance is included in the rental rate, regardless of your nationality. Your personal US or European auto insurance has no effect here: our commercial policy covers the vehicle.

YUL airport delivery

For visitors, delivery to Montreal-Trudeau (YUL) is available for $100. We coordinate with your arrival time and hand the vehicle over in the designated zone. Return at departure follows the same process.

Booking from abroad

Book online, send your license ahead for pre-validation, and arrive in Montreal knowing everything is ready. Contact our team if your license is a special case. We respond quickly.
